Knife

In our film opening we will see a glimpse of a knife. We thought that this would be an effective weapon used because is stereotypically the murder weapon for most horror movie. The sharp point and edges creates an unsettling atmosphere, this weapon has associations with death. The fact that it is a knife will give a clear shock to the audience and show that she is about to be killed. This is also an easy prop to use for a horror movie, as any other weapon used would be harder to film or imply that she is about to be murdered.

Phone

In our film opening, a phone will be used as a potential connection to a modern audience, the character Amber will be shown texting her friend multiple times in the opening to connect with the audience and show the modern technology connecting with teens.

The text messages will be shown close up to show the audience. The phone also acts as a useful torch in the situation where the character Amber is in the dark where she uses a phone torch as way out. 

Record Player

A record player will be used as a prop during out film opening, this contrasts with the modern iPhone. The juxtaposition of the two time periods creates a mysterious effect. This also has a reflection on the past and emphasises the older music. In addition, this may connect with teenagers starting to explore both old and new music, with the increasing popularity of Record player's, even some claiming that they produce much more quality music.

In our opening, the killer will put the record player on, an old piece of music will play contrasting with the up-beat music played at the start of the opening, creating a mysterious atmosphere.
